Jewish Kids Film Festival New Rosh Hashanah Super Menschy Movie Contest

San Francisco – August 1, 2025 - Calling all entries for a new Jewish Kids Film Festival competition! In honor of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, we are seeking films that express “Super Menschy” new years messages. Mitzvah Power Academy, the festival sponsor, is excited to create two contest divisions: Junior (ages 5-8) and Senior (ages 9-12). Grownups are welcome to help. Films should be 3 minutes or less and in MP4 or MOV format. They can be filmed using a phone camera. Submit entries using the form on MitzvahPower.com by September 15, 2025.

Here are a few super menschy movie ideas:

  • A good deed you plan to do this year

  • A fun “Shanah Tovah” new years greeting for family and friends

  • A thank you to someone who showed you kindness this past year

  • A pledge on how you want to be a better person

  • A Rosh Hashanah wish for your family, community or the world

  • A dancing apple and honey jar singing a super menschy song for a sweet year

Rosh Hashanah Super Menschy movies can be in the form of skits, stories, songs, animations, puppet shows, cooking demos, art works or any other expressive video format. Our motto for young film makers is, “Make it easy, make it fun, make it SUPER menschy!” In honor of Rosh Hashanah…make it super sweet!!

All participants will be honored with a Menschy Award certificate, have their film featured in the Jewish Kids Film Festival Theater at MitzvahPower.com, and earn fun prizes. Fifteen Grand Prize Winners in our Junior and Senior divisions in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor categories will receive additional awards and prizes. Winners will be announced and top entries shown at a special Jewish Kids Film Festival Podcast on September 18, 2025. Feel free to share the Jewish Kids Festival introductory videos as seen HERE and HERE with your constituents and subscribers.
